On January 25, 2019, at the intersection of Inglezi Street and Academician Korolyov Street, an art object was installed—a surreal combination of a female foot, a high heel, and a flower, created in the style of post-antics and neo-socio-realism. The height of the object is 4.7 meters. On the sole of the foot is an English inscription: “Philosophy begins in wonder. Plato.”

Additionally, the wall behind the sculpture was transformed into an independent art object called “The Wall of Freedom.” During the opening, visitors were invited to draw or write something on it. In the future, a new mural is planned to be created on this wall.

The sculpture was deliberately placed not in the city center but in the Kyiv district:
“The city center is beautiful on its own. But in the Kyiv district, there are many high-rise buildings but few landmarks. Odesa is not just the center — it’s also the Suvorovskyi, Kyivskyi, and Malynovskyi districts,” the artist shared. He explains that the sculpture was inspired by the myth of Daphne. According to legend, fleeing from Apollo who was in love with her, Daphne called on Zeus for help, and he transformed her into a laurel tree. The artist leaves the modern interpretation of this story up to the residents of Odesa and the city’s visitors..
